MARYVILLE, Mo. – While most Northwest Missouri State University students spent their summer break outside of the classroom, student Elizabeth Sweeten spent her time doing just the opposite.
Sweeten worked as an intern in the Public Relations Office for Center School District #58 in Kansas City, Mo.
“During my internship, I learned how to take criticism, work quickly for deadlines while remaining detail-oriented, brushed up on time management skills between small and large projects and worked independently,” Elizabeth Sweeten, public relations major from Kansas City said. “I worked with design firms, photographers, news stations, press and Center’s local area businesses for numerous projects this summer.”
Elizabeth also worked with social media websites, applications for the school district and communicated to large audiences through the use of new technology. She was especially happy to give back to the school district she spent 13 years in before her time here at Northwest.
“Above all, what I enjoyed the most was being able to communicate and work with our district parents and patrons on promoting our schools and celebrating student successes,” Sweeten said.
If you are looking for an internship, be sure to check out Career Services’ “Career Day” from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Bearcat Arena.
