MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State communication students participated in the annual Off Broadway tour on Jan. 31 in Kansas City, Mo.
AdInk, Northwest’s advertising club, for 12 years has been transporting a busload of students to visit a variety of advertising agencies each on or barely off of Broadway – one of Kansas City’s main streets.
Tour stops included advertising giants VML and Barkley, along with Trozzolo, Emfluence, Meers, Bernstein-Rein, MMGY and Sullivan, Higdon & Sink. Agencies gave full house tours, described their programs and agency structure and distributed internship information.
Seats on the bus were limited, so the first fifty students chosen in a raffle-style drawing were given the opportunity to attend. Northwest junior Taylor Neff was the last to be chosen.
“I was holding my breath towards the end of the drawing because I wasn’t sure I’d be chosen,” Neff said. “I’ve never taken advantage of any of the department’s off-campus visits so I was really excited to attend Off Broadway. All of the agency employees were extremely helpful and even provided resume feedback – great networking opportunity.”
