The Forensics Team is a student ran organization here at Northwest. Their focus is helping students strengthen their skills in public speaking, forensic participation, and scholarly activity. Membership in this organization is possible by competing in forensics tournaments as well as maintaining a sufficient grade point average.
Currently, there are 18 members on the Forensics Team. Meetings for the organization are held every Monday at 5p.m. in Wells Hall, and practices are every Wednesday also in Wells Hall. Recent successes of the Forensics Team include 6th place overall in individual sweepstakes at the Inaugural Bob R. Derryberry Memorial Tournament, 6th place overall in team sweepstakes at the in Inaugural October Slam Tournament, and 4th place overall in 2011 for the state of Missouri.
Benefits of being involved in the organization includes a chance to compete on an academic level, a practice in professionalism, networking possibilities, relationship building, an expansion of communication skills, and a chance to exercise social awareness.
